David Friedman with Tambour Peter Weniger and Pepe Berns EARFOOD Skip Records 2004 " Our first album, with Paul Simon percussionist, Jamey Haddad, set the ball in motion. We rehearsed intensely for two days, honing each piece, aiming for the perfect balance between precision and spontaneity. In the studio we did a freely improvised sound check, which was recorded. We were so excited about the results that it became the first piece on the CD. We decided to continue exploring the possibilities of creating improvised grooves and ended up recording only one or two of our prepared pieces. I was thrilled! We continued searching for the ultimate balance, mixing "on the spot" soundscapes with composed music. Every concert is a mixture of musical "cliff-hanging" and the deep satisfaction of arriving at the end of a musical journey together! These guys are really inspiring!" David Friedman 1.
